Ifthar Meet

On March 26, 2024, the Duxford International Business School (DIBS) and Duxford College (DC) organized an Ifthar Meet attended by students, faculty members, board members, and their families. This gathering aimed to celebrate the spirit of togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to break their fast together, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. It featured a variety of traditional Ifthar dishes, allowing everyone to enjoy the cultural significance of the meal. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy as families and friends gathered to share in this meaningful occasion.

DUXPRESS – Newsletter Release

On March 19, 2024, DUXPRESS, the college newsletter of Duxford College for Advanced Studies (DCAS), was officially released. The launch event featured Fareed Rahmani, MD & CEO of Duxford Edupark, along with Ashraf Erambath, the Finance Director, and Ummer Erambath, the Director.

DUXPRESS aims to showcase the achievements, activities, and significant happenings at DCAS, providing a platform for highlighting student and faculty accomplishments. The newsletter serves as a valuable resource for the college community, keeping everyone informed and engaged.

The editorial board consists of distinguished members, including Dr. T Mohammed Ali, the Principal, who serves as the Chief Editor. The team also includes Dr. Thoufeeq Rahman K as the Editor, Ms. Shahina M as the Associate Editor, and members Mr. Azeem Jabir and Mr. Muhammed Sirajul Hasan. Together, this dedicated editorial team ensures that DUXPRESS reflects the vibrant spirit of the college, fostering a sense of pride and community among students and staff.

DUXCORE – Student Creative Centre Inauguration

On March 19, 2024, Duxford College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), proudly inaugurated the DUXCORE – Student Creative Centre. This new initiative aims to be a hub of innovation and creativity. It will provide students with a dedicated space to explore their artistic ideas and collaborate on various projects.

The inauguration ceremony featured Dr. Mohammed Shahin Thayyil, the Head of the Department of Physics and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Calicut. During his inspiring address, Dr. Shahin emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity within the academic environment. He pointed out that centers like DUXCORE can serve as incubators for fresh ideas and entrepreneurial ventures. Thus, students are encouraged to think outside the box and push the boundaries of their creativity.

Additionally, the event included the unveiling of the official DUXCORE logo by Ashraf Erambath, the Finance Director of Duxford Edupark. This logo symbolizes the spirit of creativity and collaboration that the center aims to foster. Moreover, it represents the collective aspirations of the student community to innovate and create.

The establishment of DUXCORE is a significant step for Duxford College. It reflects the college’s commitment to providing students with the resources and environment they need to thrive creatively. Dignito – Arts Fest 2k24

On February 20, 2024, the Darrel Students Union 2023-24 organized Dignito – Arts Fest 2k24, a vibrant celebration of creativity and artistic expression. The event was graced by Mr. Mukthar Udarampoyil, a renowned story writer and artist, as the Chief Guest. His presence added immense value to the fest, inspiring students with his insights into the world of storytelling and the arts.

Dignito featured a variety of activities, including art exhibitions, performances, and interactive workshops, showcasing the diverse talents of students. The event aimed to foster a love for the arts and encourage participants to explore their creative potential. With Mr. Mukthar’s engaging address and the enthusiastic participation of students, Dignito 2k24 became a memorable occasion that celebrated the power of creativity and artistic expression.

Craft Making Workshop

On February 3, 2024, a Craft Making Workshop was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Duxford College. The workshop was led by Nishana E, a successful craftwork entrepreneur, who shared her expertise and creative techniques with the participants.

The session provided hands-on experience in various crafting techniques, offering students the opportunity to explore their creativity while learning the intricacies of craft making. The event aimed to inspire students to explore entrepreneurship in the creative industry, highlighting how craft making can be turned into a viable business venture. The workshop was an engaging and informative experience, promoting creativity and entrepreneurial thinking among the participants.

Capacity Building & Personality Development Programme

The Capacity Building & Personality Development Programme, jointly organized by the Women Development Cell (WDC) and IQAC of Duxford College and Amal College of Advanced Studies, took place on Jan 22, 2024. Supported by the National Commission for Women, the program aimed at equipping students with essential personal, professional, and digital skills, in alignment with the national initiative of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. With the participation of 192 students, the event sought to foster growth in communication, career development, and digital literacy.

Inaugural Session:

The program began with an inaugural ceremony led by Jb. P V Abdul Wahab, MP, who delivered an inspiring address on the role of education in shaping the future. Dr. Muhammedali T, Principal of Duxford College, chaired the event, with special addresses from Dr. Zacaria T V, Principal of Amal College, and Shri. Fareed Rahmani, CEO of Duxford Edupark. Their speeches emphasized the significance of capacity building and personal growth for students. The inauguration highlighted the collaborative efforts of both institutions in empowering students for success.

Session 1: Personal Capacity Building

The first session, led by Dr. Shahina Mol A K, HOD of English at Unity Women’s College, focused on personal development through self-awareness, effective communication, time management, and stress management. Students actively engaged in group activities and self-assessment exercises, enhancing their understanding of these crucial life skills​.

Session 2: Professional Career Skills

In the second session, Dr. Muhammed Rafi, Assistant Professor at Duxford International Business School, guided students through resume building, interview techniques, professional networking, and workplace etiquette. Practical exercises, such as mock interviews, allowed participants to gain hands-on experience, preparing them for real-world professional challenges.

Session 3: Digital Literacy and Use of Social Media

The final session, led by Dr. Abbas Vattoli, Assistant Professor of Commerce at Amal College, centered on the importance of digital literacy and the responsible use of social media. Participants learned how to build a positive online presence and leverage social media for professional growth. The session included practical demonstrations, offering students valuable tools for managing their digital footprint​.

Conclusion:

The event concluded with a valedictory address by Prof. P K Noorudheen, Administrative Officer of Amal College, who reinforced the importance of continuous learning and the application of the knowledge gained. The program successfully equipped students with a range of personal, professional, and digital skills, preparing them for future challenges. Handing Over the fund to Hima Care Home and Ashraya Special School

On January 16, 2024, the Students Initiative in Palliative Care (SIP) unit of Duxford had conducted a heartfelt event, handing over funds to Hima Care Home and Ashraya Special School. These funds had been raised through various charitable initiatives, including community-driven events organized by the SIP unit. The donation symbolized the unit’s ongoing commitment to supporting the vulnerable and promoting compassionate care.

The gesture had a profound impact, strengthening the relationship between Duxford and these care institutions, while reinforcing the values of empathy and service among the students involved. It had been a meaningful occasion that highlighted the positive influence of community engagement and student-led initiatives in making a difference in the lives of others.

ATHLON 2K24 – Annual Sports Meet

On January 11, 2024, the Darrel Students Union 2023-24, in association with the Department of Physical Education, had organized Athlon 2k24 – Annual Sports Meet. The event had brought together students for a day of energetic competition, fostering both athleticism and team spirit. The key sports featured during the meet included chess, badminton, and volleyball, offering a diverse range of challenges that catered to both mind and body.

Participants from various departments had showcased their talents in these sports, with each competition drawing enthusiastic support from their peers. Athlon 2k24 had not only provided a platform for students to demonstrate their skills but also strengthened the sense of unity and camaraderie across the campus. The event had been a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition, leaving lasting memories for all those who participated.

National Seminar on Curricular Reforms in Higher Education

The one-day National Seminar on Curricular Reforms in Higher Education held at Duxford College of Advanced Studies in collaboration with Kerala Higher Education Council, was a significant event bringing together academicians, administrators, educational leaders and teachers to deliberate on the ongoing reforms in higher education aligned with National Education Policy (NEP), especially in the context of the Kerala. The seminar aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the reforms, formulate clear plans, and develop operational strategies for effective implementation.

Inaugural Session:
The seminar commenced with a silent prayer, followed by a warm welcome by Mr. Muhammed Nuhman A P, the Seminar Coordinator and Vice Principal. Dr. T Muhammed Ali, the Principal of Duxford College for Advanced Studies, chaired the session. The Seminar was graced and inaugurated by Dr. M Nasser, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Calicut, who provided insights into the NEP and the challenges and possibilities it presents for higher education in India. Professor Rishikesh BS, Associate Director and Professor: School of Education and head law and policy at Azim Premji University, the esteemed keynote speaker, delved into the intricacies of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the comprehensive reforms in higher education across India.

His presentation centered on the philosophical underpinnings of the national education policy and highlighted the potential for reforms at the grassroots level, shedding light on both the possibilities and challenges within the education ecosystem. Dr. Faisal K P Mariyad, Director, Aligarh Muslim University, Malappuram center, the Guest of Honour, shared valuable perspectives on the given theme. It was very fortunate that Prof. Susanne Rau, Head of the Max Weber Centre of Arts and Cultural Studies, Erfurt University visited the Seminar and delivered a Felicitation lecture in the seminar. She explained how the higher education system in Germany is structured as possible models could be worked out on that for the impending reforms in the state and the country. Felicitations were given by Dr. Gayathri Harish, Academia linkage Head Logistic council of india, Duxford International Business School, Fareed Rahmani, CEO & Managing Director Duxford Edupark, Dr. Misab PT, COO of Duxford Edupark, delivered the vote of thanks.

Session-2: Reforming Higher Education in Kerala;

Thoughts and the Terrain The second session, chaired by Dr. Zacaria TV, Principal of Amal College of advanced Studies Nilambur, focused on thoughts and considerations regarding higher education reforms in the state of Kerala. Dr. Shafeek, Research Officer on Special Duty at KSHEC, presented his insights, followed by discussions led by Dr. O Abdul Jaleel, Principal, Najath college of Science and Technology and Dr. Suhail Palakkod, Dean Academics, Duxford International Business School. Mr. Azeem Jabir, Head of the Department of Graphic Design and Animation, delivered the vote of thanks.

Session-3: Thinking Reformed Curricular Framework for Higher Education Institutions
The third session, chaired by Dr. S Ganesan, Director of Duxford International Business School, explored the formulation of a reformed curriculum framework. Mr. Raja Gopal CV, Head of Admissions Outreach at Azim Premji University, presented his thoughts on rendering reforms through curriculum innovations, followed by discussions with Dr. Sulfi P, Asst. Prof. MES Mampad and Senate Member University of Calicut. The discussant of the Dr. NK Muhammed Aslam was absent and informed in his absence due to personal reasons. Dr. Thoufeeque Rahman K, HoD Economics at DCAS, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.

Conclusion:
The seminar successfully addressed key issues related to higher education reforms, providing a platform for fruitful discussions and knowledge exchange. At valedictory, distributed certificates for two participants and shared their feedback. The event finished successfully in collective effort of IQAC members of Duxford college for advanced studies. The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants and look forward to continued collaboration for the betterment of higher education.
