From Tree to Totes: The Art and Science of Paper Bag Manufacturing

On January 8, 2024, the Entrepreneurship Development Club had successfully organized an insightful workshop titled “From Tree to Totes: The Art and Science of Paper Bag Manufacturing.” The event had been led by two talented students, Liya P from B.Com Co-operation and Fathima Hanna P from BA Economics with Foreign Trade, who conducted the workshop with enthusiasm and expertise.

The session had aimed to promote sustainability by introducing participants to the eco-friendly process of paper bag manufacturing. The workshop had not only focused on the practical skills required to create paper bags but also delved into the broader environmental benefits of reducing plastic use. Attendees were given a step-by-step demonstration, learning how to convert raw materials into finished products, while understanding the economic and ecological significance of this craft.

Liya and Fathima had shared insights into the commercial potential of paper bag manufacturing, emphasizing its relevance in today’s eco-conscious market. They had also discussed the importance of entrepreneurship in sustainable business models, inspiring participants to think creatively about turning such small-scale manufacturing ideas into viable business ventures.

The workshop had fostered hands-on learning, encouraging student engagement and collaboration. By the end of the session, attendees had acquired not only the skills to produce paper bags but also a deeper understanding of how entrepreneurship can contribute to environmental conservation. “From Tree to Totes” had been an enriching experience, equipping students with both practical knowledge and entrepreneurial inspiration.

Snack Fest 2K24

On January 7, 2024, the Students Initiative in Palliative Care (SIP) Duxford had organized Badkani – Snack Fest 2k24 at Town Square, Wandoor, from 3 PM to 6 PM. The event had featured a variety of delicious snacks, offering attendees a delightful culinary experience. By the time the fest concluded, it had successfully brought the community together to enjoy food while supporting the compassionate work of SIP. Badkani had been a fun-filled and flavorful event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who participated.

New Year Celebration – Staff Club

On January 3, 2024, the Staff Club in association with IQAC of Duxford College celebrated the New Year with a joyful gathering. All the staff members came together to mark the occasion, sharing in the festive spirit with a cake-cutting ceremony. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and togetherness, as colleagues celebrated the start of a new year, reflecting on the past and looking forward to the opportunities ahead. The simple yet meaningful celebration highlighted the unity and warmth among the staff, setting a positive tone for the year.

Union and Fine Arts Inauguration 2023

The Union and Fine Arts Inauguration 2023 held on December 20, 2023, was a significant event organized by the College Students Union 2023-24. The newly named Darrel Students Union officially assumed responsibilities with an oath ceremony, where Principal Dr. T Mohammed Ali administered the oath to the Union Chairman, who in turn administered the oath to the other office bearers.

The event was graced by R.S Panikkar, Chair for Gandhian Studies at the University of Calicut, as the Chief Guest. A highlight of the event was the logo launch of the Darrel Students Union, unveiled by Ashraf Erambath, the Finance Director of Duxford Edupark.

The inauguration concluded with an energetic concert featuring performances by Vocal Dude and Safwan LR, bringing the event to a vibrant close and leaving attendees with a sense of excitement for the year ahead.

A Trip to Queen of Hills – Staff Club

On December 10, 2023, the Staff Club of Duxford College organized an exciting trip to the Queen of Hills, providing a refreshing getaway for the staff members. The trip offered a perfect opportunity for the team to unwind, bond, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the hills. Organized with great enthusiasm, the trip not only served as a recreational experience but also strengthened the camaraderie among the staff, making it a memorable and rejuvenating experience for everyone involved.

Stylus- Writing capacity Building

Stylus: Writing Capacity Building Program was a 10-day initiative organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Duxford, held from December 5, 2023, to December 22, 2023. This program focused on enhancing students’ writing competencies through a series of interactive sessions aimed at improving their skills in key areas such as comprehension, descriptive writing, and exam writing.

The initiative provided students with practical guidance, tools, and strategies to develop their writing abilities, fostering better academic performance and communication skills. Through focused exercises and expert-led sessions, participants were able to enhance their ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively, positioning them for greater success in their academic and professional pursuits. Stylus was a valuable platform for nurturing critical writing skills and boosting students’ confidence in written expression.

Wilderness Yearning to Wayanad : An Organic Journey

On December 2, 2023, the Tourism and Nature Club, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Duxford, organized an immersive event titled ” .” This event took participants on a journey to explore the rich natural beauty and organic lifestyle of Wayanad, a region known for its lush landscapes and sustainable living practices.

The trip offered students a unique opportunity to connect with nature, gain insights into organic farming methods, and experience the cultural heritage of the area. Through guided tours and hands-on activities, participants learned about the importance of environmental conservation and the benefits of organic living. The event not only promoted eco-tourism but also fostered an appreciation for sustainable practices, making it a memorable and educational experience for everyone involved.

Shoot – Out Competition

On November 28, 2023, a Shoot-out Competition was organized by the Students Initiative in Palliative Care (SIP), bringing together students for a fun and engaging activity. The competition saw Sinan from B.Com Cooperation emerge as the winner. In a heartwarming gesture, Sinan chose to donate the prize money to SIP, recognizing the kind and compassionate acts carried out by the organization. His contribution underscored the importance of giving back to the community, aligning with SIP’s mission of empathy and service. This act of generosity added a meaningful dimension to the event, highlighting the spirit of solidarity and kindness among the students.

Celebrating Inclusivity : A social entrepreneurship initiative

On November 13, 2023, the Entrepreneurship Development Club, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized an inspiring initiative titled “Celebrating Inclusivity: Diwali Joy to Ashraya Special School.” This social entrepreneurship project aimed to spread joy and foster inclusivity during the Diwali festival by engaging with the students of Ashraya Special School.

During the event, club members organized various activities and festivities that brought smiles to the faces of the children, including games, art and craft sessions, and a festive celebration featuring traditional Diwali sweets. The initiative emphasized the importance of inclusion and community support, showcasing how social entrepreneurship can make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with special needs. The event not only highlighted the spirit of giving but also created lasting memories for both the participants and the children of Ashraya Special School, reinforcing the value of empathy and collaboration within the community.
